Ardbeg:
Ardbeg is a single malt whiskey, with a taste of smoke and peat. Ardbeg is from the Ireland Islay. The distillery was founded back in 1815, but already in 1981 they stopped their production. In 1997 they were purchased by Glenmorangie because of the interest of whisky. Since then it’s been one of the fastest growing brands in the world. In 1945 a committee was made to make them more popular by branding themselves even more than before.
Bruichladdich:
William Harway and his brothers made the distillers back in 1881. The distiller is placed near the beach on Islay. The distillers were closed down in 1994 because there were too many distillers. Suddenly in 2000 a small group of private investors purchased the distillers and made a extensive renovation. At 2001 the distillers opened again.
Ardbeg
Ardbeg. A whiskey company, who may have known of the incredible number of whiskey connoisseurs, but for ordinary people who are not usually drink whiskey, their website is not very useful. The first impression you get of the site is incredibly boring. Here you will enter the page and immediately enter your age. Here you must be aged 18 or over to access. When this is done you will enter on an empty right hand, which is good enough a few pictures and some things moving. Top of the page you see the menu, where a small dog (which you also have no idea why the run around) rush over and pointing to the selected menu. The way they present themselves as a whiskey company is through their text appearing on the blank white page. The site is incredibly simple and easily built, almost a bit amateurish, does not have the right immediately appealing. Logo for their whiskey you have to know the fact that knowledge is sure one is on the right side. The logo will appear as a watermark in the top menu bar where it is stored just in the background. This works okay, then it does not meant that the logo must be the only thing you look at on a website.
The website shift the focus from the real product, for something completely different. If you for example entering the site such as Jack Daniel's website, which is smart and built up with lots of pictures of their product and distillery. You will see a page who brands their product. But Ardbeg move focus to the distiller values and what values it is based. As you can see there are a few pictures on the page and most out of the right side, and these images all work together as a link to get deeper into Arbeg, or sending you to on to something completely different, which connects to Arbeg
Corporate Branding
Corporate branding is about giving themselves an identity. It means giving yourself a brand, something that people can recognize when they either see or hear anything about the product. Corporate branding is important because it not only deals with the product but the entire company. Through Corporate Branding you will get an image, and that is also what Arbeg have done. Their image is strong in contrast to their website, which is not part of their branding. The website does not really ever show the product. You should know Arbeg and its logo to know it sure is the right website you are visiting. Therefore Ardbeg need to have some values that speak to the visitors on the website. That is to say that the page should contain more information about these values, and information about the whiskey than that, because otherwise there is no real idea of having a website where you do not really get this message out and do not brand themselves with beautiful pictures of, in this case his whiskey. So the website is not trying to sell a product as such, but more trying to talk about a product and give buyers an influence in why the whiskey is as it is and why it is done so the taste of this special way. It is therefore a completely different way Ardbeg joke itself out on their website. And this makes it special and different
